That allows my personal task app (Things 3) on my iPhone to keep track of pending tasks and I keep the details in Outlook Tasks that I can connect to on my iPhone via work VPN. So, when I recently switched jobs, I kept all my personal tasks intact on Things 3 and just deleted all the tasks with "Office" tag. I hope something works out for you.
