The fresher it is, there should be less movement of it so it wouldn't delay healing. After 5 weeks I could flip it more frequently and when I did it wrong it would get sore. I got mine done on the 26th and can flip it up now. It only took about 1.5 - 2 weeks for me to be able to. I don't do it much obviously, but it's possible.
