A total of 50 Akkawi cheese samples were aseptically collected from 16 major retail stores across Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, between September 2020 and October 2021. Forty-three cheese samples belonged to 9 brands, while 7 were unbranded. All samples were made from cows’ milk and collected from different lots.
